22nd December Advent Devotion – Meeting Jesus as Lord
Hello,
How was it when you were first filled with The Holy Spirit?
Can you remember when you met Jesus as Lord?
When we meet Jesus as Lord it leads us to surrender our lives or a part of our life to Him.
Today we are privileged to meet with Elizabeth as she is filled with The Holy Spirit and meets Jesus as Lord

What a beautiful meeting of Mary and Elizabeth, I’m so thankful that Luke records this testimony for us. Today we read his account from The Message Bible.
39-45 Mary didn’t waste a minute. She got up and traveled to a town in Judah in the hill country, straight to Zachariah’s house, and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby in her womb leaped. She was filled with the Holy Spirit, and sang out exuberantly,
You’re so blessed among women,
and the babe in your womb, also blessed!
And why am I so blessed that
the mother of my Lord visits me?
The moment the sound of your
greeting entered my ears,
The babe in my womb
skipped like a lamb for sheer joy.
Blessed woman, who believed what God said,
believed every word would come true!
46-55 And Mary said,
I’m bursting with God-news;
I’m dancing the song of my Savior God.
God took one good look at me, and look what happened—
I’m the most fortunate woman on earth!
What God has done for me will never be forgotten,
the God whose very name is holy, set apart from all others.
His mercy flows in wave after wave
on those who are in awe before him.
He bared his arm and showed his strength,
scattered the bluffing braggarts.
He knocked tyrants off their high horses,
pulled victims out of the mud.
The starving poor sat down to a banquet;
the callous rich were left out in the cold.
He embraced his chosen child, Israel;
he remembered and piled on the mercies, piled them high.
It’s exactly what he promised,
beginning with Abraham and right up to now.
56 Mary stayed with Elizabeth for three months and then went back to her own home.
Luke 1:41 “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby in her womb leaped. She was filled with the Holy Spirit, and sang out exuberantly,”
Two ordinary women believed.
Through them we learn how God initiates equips and prepares us as we wait for his promised fulfilment in our lives.
Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit prophetically declares to Mary “Blessed are you among women, and blessed in is fruit of your womb. And how does this happen that the mother of my Lord should come to me?”
Out of her Spirit she sees and meets Jesus as Lord! Wow! Elizabeth meets Jesus as Lord, a baby in his mothers womb!
Elizabeth is filled with Holy Spirit in the very presence of Jesus in Mary’s womb.
Elizabeth knows her son is to prepare the way for the Lord
Her baby, John leaps as He meets Jesus and in that moment the revelation of Jesus as Lord is given.
The eyes of her heart are opened to see Mary chosen by God to carry the saviour of the world.
She is anointed to prophesy and does so in song proclaiming the revelation of Jesus as Lord.
What else I wonder did God reveal to Elizabeth?
Elizabeth surrenders her long awaited miracle child, and gives him wholly to God.
Imagine the impact on how she raises her son John for his holy work!
Her wisdom and insight when He is called to the dessert to begin his ministry.
Her gracious ability to ‘let go’ of John and trust him to God.
The tender comfort of The Father when his life is unjustly taken.
How profound and deeply moving it is to see how our God prepares us.
Thank you Father.
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

I love how in this recording these two women sing as one worshipping who Jesus is to them.
