I walked to the swimming pool and dawn was breaking and as I passed by the wall with all the leaves piled up they caught my attention.  I loved the way the leaves shone like gold in the light.
As I passed by again at the end of the week, Galatians 2:20 came to mind. “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Jesus said, “I Am the Light of the world.” He lives in us and shines through us as light in this world. Apart from Him we can do nothing – when His life light shines in and through us, there is beauty.
As I walked home in daylight I simply saw a pile of decaying leaves, a huge contrast. So let’s put down performance and all it’s traps as a measuring stick for our value it will only cover us in a trail of condemnation. Our true value and worth rests in belonging to Jesus. He loves us as we are and shines through us, as light in this world to love others through the facets of our character and gifts he placed in us.
